MANNAM
GW: Mother Teresa – World Peace Starts from the Love of the Family
“What can you do for world
peace?” “Go to your home and love your family.”
In 1979, when Mother Teresa was about to
receive Nobel Prize for peace, this was the reporter’s question and Teresa’s
answer. She was in sandals and with white clothes in the awards ceremony just like
she was always wearing as usual.
With
her prize money, she asked “How many pieces of bread can
I buy with this money?” It was her question. In all
her life, Mother Teresa moved people’s
hearts by making peace in the place where people were needed. So when she died,
everyone who knew her was sad. The sorrow didn’t divide religion or race. The earth was one for a while Mother
Teresa died. Until now many people still respect her. It is not because of the
things that she achieved. The reason is that her achievements, words and her
view of life became a compass to the people in modern society who are heatless.
Teresa had a hard time when she was young. But
her family went through the time by loving and caring for each other. Since she
received love from her family, this is why she shouted that we have to do the
same to make world peace.
The
smallest society is a ‘family.’ This is the basic form for a country. If a family
changes, the society and even the world can be changed. This is what Mother
Teresa thought to make peace all around the world.
In
MANNAM Volunteer Association, we also try to make peace happen in this world.
Loving my family is good, but moreover, making a new family in MANNAM would be
also special thing to do. Achieving happiness and sharing the hope and love
would be the love that we can give to the family around us. Why is MANNAM so
special? The reason is it is possible in MANNAM. Giving hands for whom needs
help and caring people can bring peace around the world.
Every where needs peace as well as family.
