Have you ever watched a movie called
'TaeGukGi: Brotherhood Of War’? This renowned movie talks about the Korean Wars
which occurred on June 25 1950, and lasted for three and half years. In the
movie, two beloved brothers tore apart, and ended up fighting on the other side
of wars. Decades and decades later, the younger brother finally found the
remains of his brother, and cried out in front of the body.
What do you feel about this story of the
Korean War? Do you think this story is something apart from reality? No, I
don’t think the war is something that only exist in the screen. Near us, there
are many people who went through the war and suffered from those memory and
experiences of it. Also in Korea, it is not difficult to find people who lost
their family during the Korean WAR. This is another reason we need ‘PEACE’
Before, I felt the war is not really related
with me, so I didn’t feel strong about necessity of peace. We think we are
living in the world apart from war, but that is not exactly true. I thought my
life is apart from those wars or fighting, but MANNAM 54th commemoration of the
Korean War event reminded me there are many people who went through the war.
This is why we need peace. The war and
conflicts leave scars and suffers that can’t be easily erased. But through
peace, we can make people become together. Within the peace, two loving
brothers do not need to fight each others. Peace can bring the harmonized world
which doesn’t have such a sad thing as war. And the peace can be achieved from
the small step forward, with the mind of sharing sufferings and caring others,
and with true volunteerism.
