[MANNAM INT'L] The color & volunteering

[MANNAM INT'L] The color & volunteering

Oxford dictionary says ‘volunteer’ is to freely offer to do something. However, today I would want to describe the volunteering in a simile of color.

There are numerous colors in this world, so as there are so many different and various ways to help others. As we do not notice beautiful colors surrounded us sometimes, we do not notice the spirit of volunteering in our daily life.

Simple picking a trash or holding a door for someone is a beautiful act of volunteering.
If you agree with my writing, you might also enjoy the video clip below. It is a short video about color and volunteering. Hope you like this video!

Sharing grater joy with MANNAM VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATION

We usually think that we should be paid for what we do,
but the reason we as MANNAM VOLUNTEERS work without payment is
because joy is a greater payment.
We can show that example to the world and be role model for everyone.
This is an education without words.

Nowadays, we tend to take receive for granted.
However, there is something that could be normal to be just offering.
It is LOVE.
Sharing love through volunteering is something that has no limit to offer.
Moreover, sometimes, being paid is not the most satisfied way to pay back.
It might fill our pocket once, but touching in the heart remains forever in you.
This could be understandable to the people who have experienced it.
So, from now on let's work together in MANNAM and share the greater payment in us.
Let us be the role model for everyone.

You can only feel thin in us with MANNAM VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATION.

[MANNAM International] how many languages are in this Earth?

[MANNAM International] how many languages are in this Earth?

Have you ever learn any language other than your first tongue? Perhaps you can speak multi-languages naturally. But for me and so as the many other people around the world, we need to study hard to speak another language. Sometimes learning a new language seems like a never ending process of acquiring new vocabularies (although it is very fun to speak new language once you reach certain level.). Then, have you ever wondered how many languages are in this world?

Right now, there are 7,170,412,884 (according ‘worldometers’ on Aug 7th, 2013) people living together on this single planet, the Earth. And we speak 6,800 different languages according to Linguistic Society of America. 6,800 languages! I was quite shock there are so many unknown languages that I’ve never heard of before.

Isn’t it interesting? The world is so diverse; there are more than 6,800 languages and more than 100 countries living on this single planet. Each country has its own language, races, national and customs.
Once we understand there are such many people and different languages in the world, it is not a surprising thing to see why we are so different compare to each other.
That is why MANNAM is doing cultural clubs to know each other better and make people unit regardless nation, religions, and races.
If we understand each other without any stereotypes, there would be no conflicts

In MANNAM International, we become one under spirit of volunteerism and peace regardless the race, religion, political opinion and nationalities.
Becoming one does not mean we ignore your culture and backgrounds. We MANNAM respect each other’s cultural and differences. MANNAM want to understand each other to establish a peaceful world that everyone is respected by their own natural characteristics.

Through that process, as a pure volunteer organization MANNAM will keep doing what we are best at, helping people in need and achieving peace through understanding each other’s culture.
We can achieve peace through understand and help each other.

[MANNAM Heal the world] Hands to Hands

MANNAM came together again! This time it is especially for people in India and China. There were many disasters, like flood, earthquake in these countries recently. That is the reason MANNAM came together again. To send, school supplies to children in India, and shoes plus raincoats for people who need them in China. MANNAM International friends met in an elementary school to do this job. Since in MANNAM International, there are members from all around the world, the making donation was more special. The warm hearts that MANNAM members had made was more meaningful. Not only from one country, but from all the world was gathering their hearts and mind together. Even though we never met the people who need our help, MANNAM could do thing just by thinking of their appearance when they will see the gifts. Because since we are a one big family around the world, we were very glad to help our friends and families. As you can see from the video, some people can draw or paint beautifully, but the things that shown were not that important. The hearts from everyone on this day, made wonderful stuff even though there are some mistakes.

The thing that I love MANNAM Volunteer Association is that they keep on trying to help others. And there are many events to participate and have a chance to help. Why do humans only think for themselves? Is that the way to be happy? Many people may think that this is natural, but what I think is different. Helping others is the way we can be happiest ever. Because it is not only for me, but for others as well! Become happy in MANNAM!

[MANNAM Int'L] Guess what is on Turkish News TRT!

[MANNAM Int'L] Guess what is on Turkish News TRT!

Do you know what TRT stand for?
TRT stand for the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation. It is the national public broadcasting station in Turkey, which was established in 1964.
In this Turkish national broadcaster, they telecast MANNAM international's peace awareness project, 'MANNAM 10Km In Their Shoes'.
This peace walk was held in 2011 and it was broadcasted in Turkish national News more than one time!

In 2011, MANNAM held '10K In Their Shoes' to share and remind the natural disaster that affect many countries, especially Turkey, Thailand, Japan and Pakistan. On exactly same date, MANNAM International friends walked together in each regions to remind the natural disaster and people who are still recovering their lives again from Tsunami and other disasters.

This meaningful event was on air through Turkish national News.
The disater happened years ago, but people are still suffering due to that.
It would be one of world news that swiftly passed away from our memory, but it is a fact that people are still trying so hard to get back on their daily lives before the natural disaster happened.

We MANNAM International wanted many people around the world, to remind the natural disasters, and wanted to give hope and message to people that we still remember you guys.
Cheer up! We remember you and hope you can recover the disater as soon as possible.

[MANNAM] We Maskara with Kids Center.

[MANNAM] We Maskara with Kids Center.

We, MANNAM International spent great time with children in orphanage.
We prepared the dance performance for them and played group games together with kids.
We sang songs together, and amazingly, children also sang song for us which was a very touching moment for everybody.
For Masskara, we painted our own mask that portrays our individual identities. Some painted it with vivid colors and some decorated it with beads.
We danced and danced in the paper rain (although the place became quiet messy after the paper rain, Of course we cleaned the place after the event.)
Sharing hard labor work together is also one of great and amazing way to help others. And also, dancing and sharing love is also wonderful way to do volunteer.
We MANNAM International Association helps people and environment in varieties ways.
Here is the video clip of fun time we had with children. Hope you can also feel the love that we felt on that day.

[MANNAM] Let's gather and save the world together

[MANNAM] Let's gather and save the world together

Check out this article 'Volunteers clean up over 600kg of beach trash from Brunei beach'
. It is an article that has similar character with MANNAM Volunteer Association. The article is about over 800 volunteers gathered in specific time and place cleaning environment.
Isn't this seems alike with MANNAM? We also gather and volunteer together.
One thing that is special than this was that we were from all over the countries.
Since MANNAM Volunteer Association is international group, when we gather, we can see many having different nationalities.
We have cleaning up the mass after the flood, tapping trees to save them from diseases and so on.
Even we did different volunteer work, because it was a volunteer work, all the people who had joined came with their own will to do good thing.
Moreover, even it was hard job, they enjoyed it and felt happy to do valuable job for the world.
I think this is the merit of volunteering. Everyone participate with their own will, help each other while they are working and also do good things for other.
If this good works spread to the world, I am sure this will bring change in the world.
If you want to join these kind of volunteering, but hard to find, join MANNAM Volunteer Association. MANNAM is all round the world near you.
Or you could be the start of making MANNAM in your country!

[MANNAM] Baking cookies for kids with MANNAM

[MANNAM] Baking cookies for kids with MANNAM

We go to the Kids center (like orphanage) every month to volunteer.
When we go there, we play games, cook and have fun with kids.
However, because there were too much program going on at the center, we couldn't made it.
So, instead of going there, we plan to make cookies for them!
We made chocochip cookies and sugar cookies!
Also, we pack them with short cheering messages that our heart is in it.

When we give them to the kids at the center, they loved it.
We were also happy to see them smiling:)
Even it was little bit tired to make all those cookies, we felt each others' love while we made those.
Moreover, it was a valuable day that we made others happy:)

This is why I love volunteering and MANNAM

MANNAM GW: Incoming Peace!(International Youth Walk for World Peace)

I asked my friend from Iran once, Do you like war? He looked at me in an odd way and replied Who would like war? If a war breaks out everyone dies. Like my Friends, families and people that I care. What I realized from this conversation is that everyone hates war. It doesn’t matter if you are from Korea, England, or from Papua New Guinea. Everyone wants to avoid war. In other words, this means everyone wants Peace for what matter.

To make this happen, Not only MANNAM volunteer association, but also many youth associations came together on May 25 in Seoul. What they shouted out was Peace. It didn’t matter weather you are Asian, American, or other races. Peace happened at that day. Because with the same heart and same mind, everyone became happy and felt peace in their heart. It was an amazing moment because many people gathered for one reason. This day, there were no war, no hatred against each other.

And the walk that was happening in the area was different then other peace events, because every one of the people wrote that they want peace and declared this will happen by their hands. Everyone who joined the event wrote their signature that meant ‘I don’t want war.’

At the same time, some people went to a festival to satisfy themselves. Some people went hiking to achieve their goal. But many shouted for a world with peace. Where were you? Think about the things I can do for peace. It is actually happening now. Will you be the person who helps? Or be a person who only looks away with their arms crossed. It depends on you.

Peace Walk by youths from all around the world!

Peace Walk by youths from all around the world!

Do you want peace?
Do you want the world to be a peaceful place?
If you really do, how would you show your desire for peace?

We, youths from many different nations, gathered together for ‘Peace Walk’ to show our desire for peaceful world.
PEACE WALK of international youths was held on sunny and cloudless day.
On that day, some wore their traditional custome and swag their own national flags while they walked.
Some were holding unique hand-made pickets that were portrayed each of our desires for peace.
Those were written in many languages; French, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Russian, English and also in many other languages that I wasn’t able to recognize.
From various countries, and in many different languages, we all together shouted out how much we, youth want peace in this world.
I was impressed with people’s enthusiastic passion for this Peace Walk, and also beautiful pickets that show our voice for peace!

Below is the picture of pickets I saw in Peace Walk.
I can read only few of them, but perhaps you could read and able to recognize your mother tongue and the peaceful messages written on the picket!

It would be amazing if you could translate messages on the picket into English and leave comments on this post! (Because I am really curious on what others wrote about peace!)
