UN (United Nation) is one of well known and influential organization. United Nation was established in 1945 after WW2 in order to replace the role of League of Nations.[1] Its main vision is to stop wars between nations and it has been working as an international platform for dialogue. As an international conflict intermediary, it has many subsidiary organizations to make their vision come true.

One of its subsidiary organization, the UN youth participated in IPYG peace walk campaign. They said they were impressed with the IPYG[2] peace walk happened in Seoul, Korea to promote the peace through the world. This IPYG peace walk had happened across the world to promote the awareness of peace to global citizens. Among many IPYG peace walk, the biggest one was what held in Seoul, Korea with more than 20,000 participants from different countries. On that day, the Declaration of WORLD PEACE was read by Man Hee Lee, the Chairman of MANNAM Volunteer Association. There were also many peace leaders and many associations who had come together to join this peace walk to promote world peace.
One that day, IPYG peace walk showed how many people around the world desire for peace.

If all the youth of the world
come together and work for peace,
war will end and
world peace will become a REALITY.

What do you THINK?

[MANNAM]Interview: Peace Walk 2013

[MANNAM]Interview: Peace Walk 2013

In 1950, there was Korean War between the Republic of Korea (South Korea), supported by UN, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea), at one time supported by the People’s China and the Soviet Union. As a result of the war, 2.5million of civilians killed and wounded and 3millon of total soldier. To contribute to the world peace, I was participated in Peace Walk May 25, 2013 in Seoul. In Peace Walk, I met an Indian guy holding the picket “I love peace.”

Q1. How do you participate in this event?

Ally: One of my Korean friends was talked about this event. Because, now this world is evil and we need more peace.

Q2: Now many people are walking for peace event. How do you feeling now?

Ally: It’s really great. Korean is super amazing country. Right here, I’m glad to be here to come together with different people.

Q3: Do you think World PEACE IS POSSIBLE?

Ally: Of course, it’s not that simple to see the World Peace. But, someday I think it will be reality.

Q4. Then, how can we bring peace to the world?

Ally: Through this walk for peace, I hope many people feel the need to bring peace. I think we can bring the peace to the world if the leaders of each nation join for restoration of peace.

Q5. Do you have in mind to participate in these kinds of Peace Walk next time?

Ally: No doubt! Before, I was participated in Peace Walk around DMZ (the Korean Demilitarized Zone between South and North Korea). It was great experience. So, next time, I would love to join it.

It was first time to participate in Peace Walk. As a Korean, it was good opportunity because I didn’t notice many foreigners and Koreans want to bring peace to Korean Peninsula and the World. After the Walk, I could find peace of mind from passion of people.

Following the site, there’s beautiful Peace walk held in Cambodia. Beyond politics and religions, there are efforts and the way how different representatives try to gather.

Step for PEACE! : International Youth Walk for Peace & Restoration

Step for PEACE! : International Youth Walk for Peace & Restoration

Have ever you think that perhaps, there could be people who think same idea as you do?
If there are people who has same idea with you, do think will it be possible for you to meet those people?
The answer could be 'No' or 'Yes.'
However, based on my experience, it was possible to meet people who has same idea as I do.
Do you wonder how I met those people?
I met them at ‘World Peace Youth Walk 2013’
More than 20,000 youths from 130 different countries held a special walk for the World Peace and also for the unification of Korea.
It was held in Seoul, and I was impressed that there are this many people who think and dream about peace, as I do.
I hope this World Peace Walk 2013 spread around the world, so more people know that many people in this world, want peaceful world.

Peace Walk by youths from all around the world!

Peace Walk by youths from all around the world!

Do you want peace?
Do you want the world to be a peaceful place?
If you really do, how would you show your desire for peace?

We, youths from many different nations, gathered together for ‘Peace Walk’ to show our desire for peaceful world.
PEACE WALK of international youths was held on sunny and cloudless day.
On that day, some wore their traditional custome and swag their own national flags while they walked.
Some were holding unique hand-made pickets that were portrayed each of our desires for peace.
Those were written in many languages; French, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Russian, English and also in many other languages that I wasn’t able to recognize.
From various countries, and in many different languages, we all together shouted out how much we, youth want peace in this world.
I was impressed with people’s enthusiastic passion for this Peace Walk, and also beautiful pickets that show our voice for peace!

Below is the picture of pickets I saw in Peace Walk.
I can read only few of them, but perhaps you could read and able to recognize your mother tongue and the peaceful messages written on the picket!

It would be amazing if you could translate messages on the picket into English and leave comments on this post! (Because I am really curious on what others wrote about peace!)
